They 'screamed' for Narin: Hande Sarıoğlu defends scandalous footage

8-year-old Narin Güran, who went missing in Tavşantepe Neighborhood of Diyarbakır's Bağlar district and whose lifeless body was found 19 days later, was laid to rest in the village where she was murdered.

While the murder of Narin Güran plunged Turkey into mourning, the events that took place on the program Söylemezsem Olmaz, broadcast on Beyaz TV, sparked reactions.

THEY 'SCREAMED' ON LIVE BROADCAST

One of the program's hosts, Hande Sarıoğlu, said, "We are screaming for Narin," and proceeded to scream along with the other individuals on the program.

The scandalous act, performed for the sake of ratings, drew a flood of reactions on social media.

A STRANGE DEFENSE FROM HANDE SARIOĞLU

Following the mounting backlash, one of the hosts, Hande Sarıoğlu, made a statement regarding the events during today's live broadcast.

Stating that they screamed because they 'wanted to be the scream of our young girls,' Sarıoğlu claimed that this was a very good awareness-raising effort.

Hande Sarıoğlu's statements on the live broadcast are as follows:

"During our broadcast yesterday, while talking about Narin, we wanted to draw attention to something; we said let's be the scream of our little girls. And at that moment, we let out a scream with our team members. Actually, we made our voice heard. It is currently on the agenda...

Quite a few journalists and social media accounts have taken our scream as a topic; they are talking about it, making others talk about it. Did we give you your bread? Go ahead, you can talk. This is a very good awareness-raising effort.

You know how it is, you want to draw attention to something, but to draw attention to it, you first start with something absurd and then continue by saying, 'Yes, dear viewers, if we were able to grab your attention, let's get to our main topic'... Actually, we wanted to create such awareness. This scream we made here might make you question, 'What are they doing?'

But look, this is the agenda, you are talking about this. Because it is not just a situation where you are protecting your own daughter; there are some situations, some despicable situations happening in that geography.

And we really need to say 'stop' to this now, so that no other Narins are laid to rest like this at the age of 8."
