The teams prevented potential dangers by determining that flammable, explosive, and toxic gases were being put into flying balloons that should have contained helium gas.

The Düzce Municipality Police Department continues its inspections 24/7 to ensure the life and property safety of citizens.

Police Department teams launched a wide-ranging investigation after becoming suspicious of the gas inside the flying balloons offered for sale. As a result of the investigations, the teams determined that flying balloons were being filled with an unauthorized setup in Ağa Neighborhood and that other gases were being used instead of helium. They then conducted an inspection at the filling site together with security and AFAD Directorate teams.

Measurements and inspections carried out by technical personnel determined that the gas filled into the balloons was flammable, explosive, and toxic. Technical teams stated that acetylene gas, one of the gases found in carbide generators formerly used for welding in industrial sectors, is more easily ignited than other flammable gases and is difficult to detect because it is colorless and odorless. The measurements performed on the 5 canisters of acetylene gas that were seized revealed the deadly danger posed by the flying balloons.

While the setup found in the area was seized for destruction, the police teams subsequently ensured the collection of all balloons sold in the city center, taking the lead in preventing potential dangers.
