This time 'artist support' comes for Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu: We openly declare that we stand by him

Kılıçdaroğlu, who took the CHP Chairmanship seat following the absolute nullity decision given by the court and drew reactions with the 'purification' process he initiated, had also received criticism from famous artists who banned the use of their works. While the ban in question was being discussed, a statement of support came from some singers this time.

This time 'artist support' comes for Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu: We openly declare that we stand by him

Support from the art world has come for Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, whom some artists banned from using their songs after he returned to the duty of CHP Chairmanship. A group of artists made a joint statement, declaring that they stand by Kılıçdaroğlu.

The artists criticized the names who imposed the ban on using works on Kılıçdaroğlu for declaring him a 'hero yesterday, traitor today'. Names such as Rahmi Saltuk, Metin Karataş, and Taner Özdemir signed the statement of support.

THEY ANNOUNCED THEIR SUPPORT FOR KILIÇDAROĞLU

The statement included the following expressions:

"Is nullity bad, or are the thighs delicious? How can we be sure that those who call the ones they called heroes yesterday traitors today will not call the ones they declare heroes today traitors tomorrow!

Some of our artist friends who took sides in the recent developments within the CHP have issued warnings via media and social media so that Mr. Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu and his supporters do not use their works. The artists certainly have the authority to do this in accordance with their legal rights under the Law on Intellectual and Artistic Works (FSEK) No. 5846. However, the main question we need to ask here is this: Do they have the right to do this humanely and conscientiously? It would not be right for us to give a direct answer to this question in the name of humanity, but we cannot help but ask:

"YOU DECLARE THE ONE YOU DECLARED A HERO YESTERDAY A TRAITOR TODAY"

Wouldn't people ask? While the judicial process is still ongoing and there is no finalized court decision, while it has not yet been proven who is right and who is wrong; how and with what conscience can you pass the judgment of declaring a person a "traitor"? Can you declare one side a traitor and the other side a hero without even looking at the court records, relying only on a few television channels and the articles and videos of social media phenomena with high followers?

Even in the art community, where the perception threshold should be the highest, unfortunately, perceptions have overtaken facts. How can you be a partner to this lynching while a person for whom you wrote songs, made compositions, and declared a hero with praises yesterday is being declared a traitor and lynched by certain groups today? What documents, information, and documentation do you have in your hands? On what basis are you participating in this lynching?

"WE GIVE KILIÇDAROĞLU THE AUTHORITY TO USE ANY OF OUR WORKS HE WISHES"

This needs to be asked clearly. If the municipalities and the resources of those municipalities were in the hands of Mr. Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu today, how many of you would be able to say "Do not use our works!" today? It is a difficult thing to be squeezed between the wallet and the conscience!

We Oppose This Ban! Saying, 'We; the undersigned, owners of thousands of published works, creators, interpreters, and producers of works with viewing rates reaching billions on digital platforms; give Mr. Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu the authority to use any of our works he wishes and openly declare that we stand by him,' we would like to conclude by dedicating these words of Immanuel Kant to all our artist friends and the public: "Two things awe me most: the starry sky above me and the moral law within me."

We, the undersigned, have prepared this joint text with our own free will and initiative. All our artist friends who approve the text and want to support us can join us by sharing this declaration.
