TİGEM issues statement on 'missing racehorse' claims

In a statement shared on TİGEM's social media account, it was stated: "The claims appearing in various media outlets regarding the incident that occurred on December 25, 2025, at the Malatya Sultansuyu Agricultural Enterprise under our General Directorate, stating that 'racehorses worth 100 million liras are missing,' do not reflect the truth.

The 19 foals in the Çiftçibaşı Foal Stable at the aforementioned facility left the enterprise grounds after the paddock service gate was opened for reasons yet to be definitively determined. As a result of the foals reaching the highway, 6 foals died and 4 foals were injured in traffic accidents.

The remaining 9 foals were safely returned to the facility on the same day. There are no missing foals or horses as claimed. The total value of the 6 foals that died is not 100 million TL as alleged, but approximately 800 thousand TL.

Immediately following the incident, the necessary administrative and judicial processes were initiated, and an investigation into the matter is being meticulously conducted by the Malatya Governorship and TİGEM.

Furthermore, an official statement was made to the public by the Malatya Governorship immediately after the incident. We kindly request that the public does not give credence to baseless and speculative statements."
