TİP releases expert report confirming Gökhan Zan's audio recordings
The Workers' Party of Turkey (TİP) had withdrawn the candidacy of its Hatay Metropolitan Municipality mayoral candidate Gökhan Zan following the emergence of audio recordings. While Zan denied the allegations by calling them "deepfake," TİP has now published the expert reports regarding the audio recordings.
The Workers' Party of Turkey (TİP) has released the expert reports on the audio recordings, which were taken to court over allegations that they belong to Gökhan Zan, whom they had nominated as a candidate in Hatay.
According to the allegations, Zan negotiated with an intermediary named Turgut Kocakaya to 'withdraw from candidacy.' Another allegation claims that Zan demanded 5 million dollars and a position at TRT or Hatayspor after the election.
Turgut Kocakaya, who is alleged to have recorded the conversations in question and blackmailed Zan, was arrested on March 23 on charges of 'armed threat' and 'unlawful seizure of personal data.'
NO DEEPFAKE USED
According to the report prepared for TİP by forensic informatics and cybersecurity expert Cüneyt Üre, the individuals speaking in both videos are Gökhan Zan and Turgut Kocakaya.
According to the report, contrary to Zan's claims, deepfake technology was not used in the recordings.
The report also includes a transcript of the conversation between the two.
