TKP's 'foreign policy and national interests' statement: 'This is how it is defended'

Following its call for a protest in front of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to demand the withdrawal of a signature on a statement that blamed Iran while whitewashing the escalating US and Israeli aggression in the region, the Communist Party of Turkey (TKP) has released a statement highlighting that Turkey's foreign policy serves the interests of the ruling class.

TKP's 'foreign policy and national interests' statement: 'This is how it is defended'

In the statement signed by the TKP Central Committee, which points out that the security of the holding company order is being established under the guise of defending national interests, it was noted that the primary responsibility for signing statements that blame Iran lies with the major holding companies, whose interests dictate the direction of foreign policy.

In the statement, the interests of the people were listed as withdrawing from NATO, seizing foreign bases, kicking out foreign soldiers, withdrawing troops from overseas operations, and declaring a security policy based on the people.

The statement, titled "This is how national interests are defended," included the following: "We say it once again; a social order built on the shameless interests of a small minority is a threat to the security of the country and the people. If, by chance, the imperialist powers, for whom they jump through hoops to cooperate with tomorrow, open one of those ominous files regarding this country and drag Turkey into a struggle for existence, and if the indomitable defenders of this social order are finished off along with the invaders, let no one be offended or resentful. Undoubtedly, it is better for our working people to throw these parasites off their backs before such an overt aggression and set our country on a path of equality, prosperity, and security."

The full text of the statement made by the TKP is as follows:

"What directs Turkish foreign policy is neither 'national' interests nor the personal preferences of the government or a minister. Our foreign policy is determined in line with the needs of the major holding companies, which are the sole winners of a social system that leaves millions of our citizens poor and deprived at home.

These holding companies are primarily responsible for signing statements that blame neighboring Iran, which is under attack by the imperialist bandit US and the Zionist murderous Israel.

These holding companies want to do business with Israel, these holding companies want loans from parasitic Gulf sheikhs, these holding companies want to expand, these holding companies want war, they want to produce and sell weapons, these holding companies want NATO to settle into our very cells, these holding companies want cheap labor, these holding companies want to see trade unionists and journalists arrested.

The holdings want, the governments do. Governments and politicians also become like holdings, and together they bring our country to the edge of the abyss by shouting 'homeland, nation, Sakarya'.

Enough is enough!

Enough with deceiving this people in the name of national interests and security!

NATO membership does not protect our country and our people. On the contrary, NATO membership drags our country and our people toward war.

It has been clearly seen in the ongoing war that NATO and the US do not and cannot ensure anyone's security in a war. Fear tales like 'If we are not a NATO member, the US will attack us' or 'If we are not a NATO member, Russia will swallow us' are arguments that NATO-loving frauds have been cooking up and serving to us for years.

If the US is going to attack us, why do we let it into our country? Is it so it can stage a coup, as it did on March 12, September 12, and July 15? Is it so it can create chaos with assassinations, massacres, and all kinds of provocations? Is it so it can easily access all kinds of information belonging to the country and profile our citizens?

If there is a possibility of war with Russia, why are we opening our country's bases to NATO and the US, and why are we allowing nuclear weapons to be kept in one of them? Is it so we become a direct target when there is tension between the US and Russia?

This is not the security of our country or our people. This is the security of the holding company order. Do not fool anyone.

Injustice at home dictates a pro-NATO, pro-American foreign policy abroad.

Look at the state of Turkey and Greece, two countries that would build a bridge of friendship and brotherhood in the Aegean if they got rid of the exploiters at their helm. They have entered a race to see who can please the US more, competing with each other. If you ask, everyone talks about 'national interest'.

If we look at Cyprus, we can see whose interest it is. British bases in the South, preparations to join NATO, Israeli agents running wild, casinos, prostitution and drug trafficking in the North, all kinds of corruption and crime. This is a race to see how we can sink a small island!

Do you know how national interest is defended?

First and foremost, by getting rid of those who cast a shadow on the name of the nation. It is the greatest shame of this country that while tens of millions of our citizens struggle with poverty, one percent of the population is constantly getting richer. Period.

If we get rid of this shame, we will get rid of a foreign policy and security architecture built on cooperation with tyrants that tramples on our sovereignty and independence. We will get rid of the trouble of trying to please the US, making deals with Israel in back rooms, and pouring our country's resources into a 'rearmament' spiral that serves no purpose.

We repeat: This foreign policy serves Turkey's ruling class, not its citizens.

Our people's interest lies in leaving NATO.

Our people's interest lies in seizing all foreign bases.

Our people's interest lies in kicking out all foreign soldiers.

Our people's interest lies in withdrawing our soldiers from overseas operations.

Our people's interest lies in declaring a security policy based on the people.

Our people's interest lies in rapid nationalization in strategic sectors such as energy, the arms industry, mining, food, and gradually all basic sectors for the sovereignty, independence, and security of the country.

Our people's interest lies in the creation of a strategy and structure based on homeland defense that will defeat invaders in a world where occupations and military interventions are normalized.

We say it once again; a social order built on the shameless interests of a small minority is a threat to the security of the country and the people.
