During the event, the Gezi Park protests were also commemorated, and a text written by TKP General Secretary Kemal Okuyan regarding the protests was read.

Following the presentations, Kemal Okuyan began his speech.

According to the report by Aytunç Ürkmez from Cumhuriyet, Okuyan stated that they have prevented liberalism from becoming dominant within the left, that they have completed the struggle within the left, that they have no time to deal with intra-left polemics, and that they are focused on the struggle against the AKP.

Stating that "The AKP is reactionism, neo-liberalism, and anti-secularism," Okuyan said, "They came and said, 'We will sell them off like fathers.' We have not forgotten this. The TKP opposed the privatizations, but this time the left stood against us. They said, 'Privatization is good; thanks to this, the state will shrink.' Friends, we have fought against these idiocies," he expressed.

WARNING AGAINST 'SECRET AKP-ISM'

"We were trying to break away from the left, but the left appeared before us with a secret AKP-ism. We could not escape getting into polemics," said Okuyan, adding, "We have reached this point by fighting against this kind of leftism. During the Ergenekon process, they said, 'Turkey is becoming free,' and the AKP thanked them, saying, 'Good for you.' We do not want to deal with the left. We walk and struggle together with the vibrant segments of the left. But they would not let us be," he stated.

'EGALITARIANISM WILL COME'

Stating that the CHP and the HDP/DEM Party are social democratic and that these parties undermine the Turkish left, Okuyan said, "We tried to distance ourselves from these parties. We have a historical responsibility; this order will be destroyed, and egalitarianism will take its place. To do this, we must get rid of the CHP-HDP virus that holds the Turkish left captive. This is a difficult process. The TKP has been criticized a lot in the past because of this stubbornness," he said.

Referring to the intra-party split in 2014, Okuyan said, "Those who left at that time wanted the TKP to fall under the shadow of the HDP and the CHP. At that time, the HDP, like other leftist parties, wanted a TKP that would fall in line. We split, and since that time, we have been trying to get the TKP back on its feet," he said.

'NOTHING ELSE CAN BE EXPECTED FROM THE AKP-MHP LINE'

Referring to the 2nd Resolution Process, Okuyan said, "The process placed before us on an important topic like the Kurdish Question is an intervention. One sent a message to the other, said 'Mr.', sent a rug... We do not look at this; we look at what is being promised. At one end of the table is the AKP-MHP. It is very clear what this line wants: a dark Turkey. Nothing else can be expected from the AKP-MHP line," he said.

Referring to the words of PKK terrorist organization leader Abdullah Öcalan in a meeting with commission members in İmralı, where he said, "Commune means corporatization," Okuyan said, "What is called localization means the enrichment of bosses. The other side of the table is corporatization; they say, 'Let us Kurds corporatize as our own state.' As if secularism has not been sufficiently trampled upon and Turkey has not been Islamized enough, they talk about 'Islamic brotherhood.' Enlightenment cannot emerge from this. Its foreign policy is Neo-Ottomanism. We have gone around in circles and arrived at the reconciliation of two enemies of the Republic," he expressed.

WARNED OF DESTRUCTION

Speaking about the solution to the Kurdish Question, Okuyan said, "A separate Kurdish state project means destruction in Turkey, Iran, and Iraq. To speak on behalf of Turkey, the separation of our Kurdish citizens from Turkey means desolation. Autonomy or federation is an option that is seen as a solution but is not. Because autonomy is not brotherhood, it is separation. Turkey can only live as a whole. The end of this business is war, and we do not want that either. Another option is to say, 'The best Kurd is a kneeling Kurd,' and after this point, not a single one of our Kurdish citizens will accept that. There is no solution to this problem within this order. This order itself is already divisive," he said.

'THE UNIFYING NATURE OF TURKISH CANNOT BE QUESTIONED'

Stating that there is only one solution to the Kurdish Question, Okuyan said, "It is to ensure the sharing of this country's resources equally among every citizen. All resources will be used for the entire public through central budget planning. The unifying nature of Turkish cannot be questioned, but no one's right to education in their mother tongue can be questioned either. In these lands, the law of brotherhood is stronger than racism," he said.

'THOSE WHO SAY YES TO THIS SIDE, THOSE WHO SAY NO TO THE OTHER SIDE'

"The TKP speaks of the unity of republicans," said Okuyan, adding, "The TKP always says it protects the values of the Republic. We looked at the National Struggle from above and said, 'We grant our rights to all the soldiers of the National Struggle.' Because we are the TKP. If there are things we have lost, there are also things we have gained. The Republic provided some achievements. To establish socialism in these lands, local resources are needed. The National Struggle provides us with this. The ideas of patriotism, anti-imperialism, secularism, and planning did not come from society; these ideas came from the Republic. Everyone who defends today's order in the name of republicanism is a marketeer, a collaborator, a fake republican. The issue is: are we going to establish a republic of laborers instead of an order of sects and corporations, or are we not? This is the whole issue. Those who say yes to this side, those who say no to the other side," he expressed.

'IT IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE PEOPLE OF TURKEY'

"Let the Mullah regime stay away from us, but we stand with Iran against US intervention," said Okuyan, adding, "For revolutionaries, standing against foreign intervention here is our criterion. We will not be traitors to the homeland. If they try to change the government through a coup or pressure, we will stand against it; we will say, 'Changing the government here is the responsibility of the people of Turkey.' In all countries, the goal of communists is to struggle against their own colonizers. We know well how to stand on current, concrete issues. We do not write letters to the US just because they overthrew Saddam. We will not be among those idiotic leftists who support the jihadist HTS in Syria just because they staged a revolution," he expressed.

'TKP WILL NOT ENTER INTO ANY ELECTION COOPERATION'

Emphasizing that municipal governance cannot be achieved through tenders, Okuyan said, "It is necessary to change this order, but it is necessary to 'repel the talk of 'not now'. We are determined to repel this. We have made our choice, and that choice is Socialism. At every step of politics, the TKP must act according to this choice. The TKP will not enter into any election cooperation; it will not nominate candidates from this or that party. The Parliament elects the Head of State. In socialism, there will be no one above our supreme Parliament. But in the upcoming election, there will also be a Presidential Election; the TKP will maintain its principled stance in the parliamentary elections. The TKP has the trouble of collecting 100,000 signatures if it puts forward a candidate or if the Republicans' candidate emerges. Just because such a difficulty is placed before us, we will not go and support a contractor or some other person. Let us not go and support the 'lesser of two evils' like others do," he said.
