The Union of All Teachers (TÖB-SEN) issued a statement regarding the remarks made by Minister of National Education Yusuf Tekin during the parliamentary budget negotiations: "You call them 'cults and religious communities,' we call them 'NGOs,' and we have about 10 protocols with them in total. We will continue to sign protocols with them."

TÖB-SEN Chairman Deniz Ezer stated, "The expressions used by Minister Tekin were not words spoken in the heat of the moment while the atmosphere was tense. This statement can be described as a challenge to secular life. We invite everyone who defends the culture of living together to stand united."

'IT IS NOT SOMETHING ACCEPTABLE'

TÖB-SEN Chairman Deniz Ezer continued his remarks as follows:

"Steps against the implementation of secularism should not be taken. This is absolutely not something acceptable. We accept these expressions not only as the Minister's but as the rhetoric of the government. It is clear why he was brought to this position.

Even if the Minister were to take a step back regarding his statement during the budget negotiations, it is obvious that the government's policies in this direction will continue.

We only want our children to receive a contemporary and scientific education."
