TOBB President Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu reacts to TÜİK: Everyone should do their own job in the best way possible

Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK) President Erhan Çetinkaya, during a press conference regarding inflation debates, stated that corporate profits in Turkey have an effect that pushes inflation upward.

"THEY ARE MAKING HIGH EXORBITANT PROFITS"

Çetinkaya used the following expressions: "Companies in Turkey are using the inflationary environment to make higher exorbitant profits than they would normally receive. There is an exorbitant price increase linked to corporate profits, independent of inflation. This effect has been observed since the post-pandemic period."

A reaction to this statement by Çetinkaya came from Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB) President Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu.

"EVERYONE SHOULD DO THEIR OWN JOB IN THE BEST WAY POSSIBLE"

Speaking without naming Çetinkaya, Hisarcıklıoğlu said, "Everyone should do their own job in the best way possible," and added the following:

"I also have a call for those who point to companies as the cause of inflation and declare the private sector guilty. Before declaring the private sector—which produces, provides employment, and invests in the future of this country—guilty, everyone should do their own job in the best way possible. Let us not mix apples and oranges. If there are companies engaging in exorbitant price increases, the authorized public institutions and organizations should take action. All companies cannot be declared guilty with a wholesale approach."
