TOKİ President Bulut punches a beneficiary citizen: 'A clear indicator of the value the government places on its citizens'

Minister of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change Mehmet Özhaseki attended the key handover program for the TOKİ residences built in İzmit Sekbanlı-Sepetçi, where TOKİ President Ömer Bulut was also present.

Bulut punched the beneficiary, İshak Arslan, who was protesting him.

Criticizing the issue, CHP Kocaeli Deputy Mühip Kanko stated, "Even while delivering the residences it promised through TOKİ, the AK Party government turns a deaf ear to the true voice of the citizens. While our people were shouting in the cold that 'we are the true beneficiaries,' the fact that administrators responded with violence has added insult to injury regarding the injustice being experienced. The TOKİ key handover ceremony turned into a show where the voices of the true beneficiaries were suppressed. It is a clear summary of the AK Party government's perspective on its citizens."

CHP Kocaeli Deputy Kanko reacted to the punch thrown at the beneficiary and shared the following statement on his X account:

“As if the grievances created by TOKİ were not enough, it is a complete scandal that TOKİ President Ömer Bulut slapped a beneficiary citizen who was voicing their grievances. Our citizens, who have been paying both dues and rent for years with the hope of becoming homeowners, were subjected to violence by the TOKİ President while waiting for the day they would receive the keys they deserve. This scene, which took place in Kocaeli İzmit and was witnessed by the entire public, is a clear indicator of the value the government places on its citizens.

The violence alleged by our beneficiary citizens like İshak Arslan is not just a physical assault, but also an attack on the freedom to seek rights. The TOKİ President's behavior is proof of how the government meets such quests for rights. Instead of listening to the citizens' troubles, excluding, silencing, and resorting to violence against beneficiaries is unacceptable! As the CHP, we stand against this injustice and we are by the side of the beneficiaries and our citizens until the grievances at TOKİ come to an end.”
