Tom Barrack met with Mazlum Abdi
Following his meeting with SDF leader Mazlum Abdi and Ilham Ahmed, U.S. Ambassador to Turkey and Special Envoy for Syria Tom Barrack issued a statement reiterating U.S. support for the integration process and emphasizing that maintaining the ceasefire is the most important step.
Tom Barrack, the U.S. Ambassador to Turkey and also the Special Envoy for Syria, met with leaders of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) following recent developments in Syria.
It has been reported that the clashes that began between the Damascus army and the SDF in the Syrian city of Aleppo have taken on a new dimension as Arab tribes have switched sides.
BALANCES ON THE GROUND HAVE SHIFTED
It was reported that following the clashes, the SDF has been losing cities under its control where the Arab population is concentrated one by one, and that a ceasefire has been declared in the city of Hasakah.
The developments have also brought to the agenda claims that the U.S. has withdrawn its support for the SDF on the ground.
BARRACK MET WITH MAZLUM ABDI AND ILHAM AHMED
Following the ceasefire agreement, Tom Barrack met with SDF leader Mazlum Abdi and Ilham Ahmed, co-chair of the SDF's so-called Foreign Relations Committee.
Making a statement on his social media account after the meeting, Barrack used the following expressions:
"We were honored to meet with General Mazlum Abdi and Ilham Ahmed today. The United States reaffirmed its strong support and commitment to advancing the integration process outlined in the agreement signed between the Syrian Democratic Forces and the Syrian government on January 18."
