Trabzonspor's painful loss: Ahmet Salih Erdem has passed away

Trabzonspor Club's founding member and former president Ahmet Salih Erdem has passed away.

In a statement released by the club, it was stated: "We have learned with deep sorrow the news of the passing of our club's founding member and former president, Ahmet Salih Erdem. We wish God's mercy upon Erdem and extend our condolences to his family, our community, and his loved ones."

WHO IS AHMET SALİH ERDEM?

It was noted that Erdem founded Yıldızspor with his friends in the late 1950s, and the following was recorded:

"Later, the club's name was changed to 24 Şubat. In the early 1960s, he was offered a management position at İdmanocağı Club, and he accepted this offer and began his duty. By 1967, he was among the 20 people who founded Trabzonspor, becoming both our founder and one of our first managers. While serving as the 2nd president under our former president Suat Oyman's administration in 1973, he was elected president at the congress held after Oyman did not continue in his post, and he was recorded as the 4th president of our club. As one of the architects of the 'return to our essence' movement, Trabzonspor rose to the 1st League, which it had been longing for, under Erdem's presidency. Trabzonspor, which became the Second League Red Group champion under the presidency of Ahmet Salih Erdem, also brought one of the most meaningful trophies in our history, the Cyprus Peace Cup, to our museum in 1975. Ahmet Salih Erdem, who also served as a board member of the Turkish Football Federation after his Trabzonspor presidency, continued this duty for 5 terms. Known for his humility, stance, and gentlemanly personality, Ahmet Salih Erdem was married and a father of 4 children."
