Trade continues at full speed! While the Sumud Flotilla is being intercepted, ships are sailing from Turkey to Israel

The Global Sumud flotilla, which set sail to deliver humanitarian aid to Gaza, faced obstruction by the Israeli military yesterday. While Israel's intervention was met with backlash from the international community, protest demonstrations were held in many countries around the world. In Italy, a general strike was declared following the developments.

Meanwhile, activist Gülşah Eldemir drew attention with the ship route networks she shared on her social media account. Sharing images showing that Turkish commercial ships were making shipments to Israel, Eldemir stated the following:

“The Sumud flotilla is being attacked at the point where it reached the Gaza borders. At this very moment, you can see commercial ships from Turkey heading to Israel in the same location. History will not forget this shame.”

The post quickly became a trending topic. Zafer Party Chairman Ümit Özdağ also quoted Eldemir's post and reacted to the government with the words, “While Israel is attacking ships carrying aid to Gaza, Gülşah Eldemir published the routes of ships that set sail from Mersin to Israel's Haifa port 11 hours ago. AK Party foreign policy: curse at them in public, but continue trade and deny it.”
