Trade Minister Ömer Bolat announces: Daily passenger crossings at the Turkey–Iran border have been suspended

Trade Minister Ömer Bolat announced that the current situation at the customs gates on the Iranian border is being closely monitored.

In a post on his social media account, Minister Bolat provided the following assessment:

"Within the framework of recent developments in our region that are being felt on a global scale, the current situation at Turkey's customs gates with Iran is being comprehensively evaluated; developments are being followed moment by moment by our customs organization.

In this context, there is no extraordinary situation at the Ağrı-Gürbulak, Van-Kapıköy, and Hakkari-Esendere customs gates located on the Turkey-Iran border. Commercial cargo transport between all three of our customs gates and the Iranian side continues in a controlled manner. However, daily passenger crossings at all three customs gates have been mutually suspended. Iran is allowing its own citizens to enter its country via Turkey. As Turkey, we are allowing our own citizens and citizens of third countries to enter our country from Iran. Crossings at our customs gates continue in a controlled and uninterrupted manner, in coordination with all our relevant administrative authorities and the Iranian side."
