Traffic gridlocked in Istanbul due to rain and fog

Rain and fog, which were effective in the morning hours in Istanbul, caused heavy traffic. According to the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality's Cep Trafik application, traffic density across the city reached 70 percent. On the Anatolian side, traffic density was measured at 76 percent as of 09:16.

Traffic gridlocked in Istanbul due to rain and fog

Significant traffic congestion occurred in Istanbul during the morning hours due to rain and fog.

On the Anatolian side, vehicles are struggling to move in the Edirne direction on the 15 July Martyrs Bridge, the Fatih Sultan Mehmet Bridge, and the Eurasia Tunnel. Congestion is observed on the D-100 highway in the Edirne direction between Maltepe and the Eurasia Tunnel, and in the Ankara direction between Maltepe and Kartal. On the TEM highway, drivers are having difficulty moving due to the congestion that formed between Sancaktepe and Ataşehir in the Edirne direction.

On the European side, traffic congestion is occurring on the D-100 highway, in the Bakırköy, Haliç Bridge, and Mecidiyeköy areas, as well as on the 15 July Martyrs Bridge, the TEM highway Hasdal, Seyrantepe, Nurtepe Viaduct, the access roads to the Büyükdere Street and Levent TEM highway, and the Bayrampaşa Wholesale Market Road in the Ankara direction. Congestion is also observed on the main arteries in Esenyurt and Avcılar.

VISIBILITY REDUCED

Due to the effect of fog in some places along with the rain, there was a decrease in visibility in the Bosphorus. Drivers were forced to slow down due to the fog.

CONGESTION IN PUBLIC TRANSPORT

Passengers trying to get to work in the morning hours are creating crowds at tram, metro, bus, and metrobus stops. Passengers getting off public transport vehicles at transfer points and trying to reach the stops from the turnstile area are having difficulty moving.
