Tragic event in Gaza: Baby delivered by C-section from murdered mother
In an airstrike on the Palestinian city of Rafah, 19 people, including 13 children, lost their lives after being trapped under a collapsed building. A baby was saved by C-section from the womb of a 30-week pregnant woman who was killed in the attack.
In the city of Rafah in Gaza, where 19 people were killed, Sabreen Al-Sakani, who was killed along with her husband and daughter during intense aerial bombardment, was 30 weeks pregnant.
Palestinian health officials managed to save the baby in Al-Sakani's womb via a cesarean section.
TOOK OVER THE BABY'S CARE
Doctor Mohammed Salama, who took over the baby's care, stated that the baby, who was born via emergency C-section weighing 1.4 kilograms, is in stable condition and is gradually improving.
The baby was placed in an incubator at a hospital in Rafah alongside another baby.
The label "Baby of martyr Sabreen Al-Sakani" was placed on the incubator.
"THIS IS WHERE THE GREATEST TRAGEDY LIES"
Her uncle Rami Al-Sheikh said he wanted to name the baby saved by C-section 'Rouh'. Regarding the baby's sibling, he said, "The little angel was very happy that her sister was going to be born."
Doctor Salama stated that the baby would remain in the hospital for three to four weeks. "After the observation period, we will try to find out where the child will go. To her aunt, uncle, or grandparents. This is where the greatest tragedy lies. Even if this child survives, she was born an orphan," he said, conveying the scale of the tragedy.
