Tragic news: Baby Sıla, victim of violence and sexual abuse, has passed away

2-year-old Sıla Yeniçeri, who was subjected to violence and sexual abuse in the Malkara district of Tekirdağ, has passed away at the hospital where she was receiving treatment.

WHAT HAPPENED?

In the Malkara district of Tekirdağ, a 2-year-old baby who fell ill was taken to the hospital by her family. During the examination, signs of physical abuse were found on the baby's body. The child, who suffered a brain hemorrhage, underwent surgery and was subsequently placed in intensive care. As part of the investigation, 5 people, including the mother, the stepfather, and two neighbor children, were detained. The baby's mother, B.Y., and the two neighbor children, aged 13 and 14, were arrested. The family's other 5-year-old child was taken into protective custody.

While the investigation was ongoing, Tekirdağ Bar Association President Egemen Gürcün made a statement on September 11.

Stating that the 2-year-old child had been subjected to sexual abuse, Gürcün said, "The mother obscured and concealed evidence despite noticing the child's condition regarding the incident. This was the reason for the mother's arrest yesterday. Because the mother, despite understanding the unfortunate case of sexual abuse the child was subjected to, concealed the evidence by not sharing the findings she obtained with judicial authorities. Subsequently, she acted in violation of her duty of care by not taking her child to the hospital for 3 days. Unfortunately, she caused our child to fall into her current state. Due to the gravity of the incident, our institutions took action quickly. The report has been finalized and the definitive report is present in the file. This was already the reason for the arrest of the 2 suspects. Unfortunately, it has been confirmed by forensic medical reports that our child was subjected to sexual abuse."
