Train derails in İzmir, passengers evacuated!
It has been reported that an İZBAN train, İzmir's suburban rail system, derailed and passengers were evacuated through emergency exits. It was announced that services at the Alsancak and Hilal stations have been temporarily suspended.
In the Konak district of İzmir, an İzmir Suburban System (İZBAN) train derailed in the Alsancak switch area. Hundreds of citizens were evacuated through emergency exits and walked along the tracks to move away from the area.
It was stated that the Hilal and Alsancak stations were temporarily closed following the malfunction.
Making a statement regarding the issue, the İZBAN management stated the following:
"Due to an issue in the Alsancak switch area, one of our trains is stuck on the line, and entries and exits to Alsancak Station have been temporarily suspended. Further information will be provided when our services return to normal."
