Transportation restrictions continue in Istanbul: 12 roads closed
The Governor's Office has implemented new security measures as part of the demonstration ban in Istanbul, which will remain in effect until March 27. 12 roads, including the Galata Bridge and Vezneciler Street, have been closed to traffic.
The ban on demonstrations and gatherings in Istanbul, which began last week, has been extended until Thursday, March 27, following the latest decision by the Istanbul Governor's Office. As part of the ban, numerous security measures have been implemented across the city.
RESTRICTIONS IMPOSED ON ENTRY AND EXIT
The Governor's Office has taken control not only of movement within the city but also of arrivals to Istanbul from surrounding provinces. Individuals, groups, and vehicles coming from Istanbul's districts or neighboring provinces that could potentially participate in protests will not be permitted to enter the city. Similarly, vehicles departing from Istanbul will also be subject to security checks.
12 ROADS CLOSED TO TRAFFIC
Throughout the duration of the ban, several major streets and roads have also been closed to vehicle traffic. The roads closed by the Governor's Office are as follows:
Galata Bridge and all roads leading to the bridge
Kennedy Coastal Road between Samatya and Sirkeci
Vezneciler Street
Nine additional streets and roads along with these main arteries
To prevent inconvenience to citizens and drivers, alternative routes that can be used in place of the closed roads have also been announced. The alternative routes are as follows:
Yıl Street
Namık Kemal Street
Kennedy Coastal Road (sections other than Samatya and Sirkeci)
E-5 D100 Highway
