Treasury and Finance Minister Mehmet Şimşek's request for TÜSİAD members rejected by prosecutor's office: He had invited them to Brussels

According to reports, Treasury and Finance Minister Mehmet Şimşek, who will attend an investor meeting in Brussels next week, invited TÜSİAD President Orhan Turan and TÜSİAD High Advisory Council (YİK) President Ömer Aras to the meeting, despite both being under a travel ban due to their speeches at the General Assembly.

According to a report by NOW TV, the applications made by Turan and Aras to travel abroad, following Şimşek's invitation to Brussels, were rejected by the prosecutor's office.

An investigation had been launched into Turkish Industry and Business Association (TÜSİAD) President Orhan Turan and High Advisory Council (YİK) President Ömer Aras due to their presentations and speeches at the February 13 General Assembly meeting, which included statements such as, "Politicians, business people, and journalists are being questioned, arrested, trustees are being appointed, and lieutenants are being dismissed."

Turan and Aras, who were taken to the courthouse under police escort, had been issued a travel ban.

Within the scope of the investigation, a lawsuit was filed against TÜSİAD President Orhan Turan and TÜSİAD High Advisory Council President Mehmet Ömer Arif Aras, seeking prison sentences ranging from 1 year and 3 months to 5 years and 3 months on charges of "publicly disseminating misleading information through press and media" in a chain manner.

The investigation regarding the charge of "attempting to influence a fair trial" against Orhan and Aras is also ongoing.
