Tremors continue in Kütahya: Important warning from Naci Görür
A 4.5-magnitude earthquake that occurred in the Simav district of Kütahya caused brief panic in the region. Prof. Dr. Naci Görür made important statements regarding the seismic activity in the area.
The Simav district of Kütahya was shaken by an earthquake measuring 4.5 on the Richter scale. According to the Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD) Earthquake Department, the earthquake occurred at 13:15 at a depth of 7.71 kilometers.
The tremor was felt mildly in Simav and surrounding districts. According to initial assessments, there was no loss of property or injuries.
SEISMIC ACTIVITY IN THE REGION
Geoscientist Prof. Dr. Naci Görür issued warnings regarding the increasing seismic activity in Kütahya in recent days.
In a statement made via social media, Görür said, 'Earthquakes of magnitude 4 have been occurring for some time around Karakoca, Yemişli, and Eğriler. Today, a 4.3-magnitude earthquake occurred in Eğriler-Simav. These earthquakes are taking place on the Naşa Fault Zone or on a fault that joins it in a northwest-southeast direction. The region is stretching in a north-south direction. We must demand earthquake-resistant residential areas'.
