TRT's 'Boycott' decision: Aybüke Pusat removed from the series Teşkilat

TRT General Manager Zahid Sobacı announced that Aybüke Pusat, who called for a boycott, has been removed from the series' cast.

Sobacı stated, "The social media posts of an actress appearing in the series Teşkilat are in no way compatible with TRT's corporate principles. Due to these posts, which also disappointed the viewers of the series Teşkilat, the person in question has been removed from the series."

The statement issued by TRT included the following remarks:

"Turkey's public broadcaster, TRT, is a Turkish brand that receives great acclaim both in our country and globally for its high-quality broadcasting and content. Protecting the reputation and brand power of TRT is one of the most important responsibilities of the TRT management.

Companies and individuals working with TRT are aware of the principles of public broadcasting and, while taking part in a TRT project, assume the responsibility of acting in accordance with these principles.

It is absolutely unacceptable for individuals involved in projects of TRT, which represents our nation, to be part of a political campaign—which is clearly initiated by a political party (and thus stands out with its political nature), targets our country's economy, aims to design politics and society, and polarizes the nation—as long as the project they are in continues.

Becoming a tool for a boycott call launched by a political group for its own political goals clearly constitutes a violation of TRT's principles, its understanding of public broadcasting, and professional standards.

Furthermore, it cannot be expected that the inconsistency and insolence of supporting a boycott call that also includes TRT with baseless allegations, while simultaneously appearing in TRT productions, will be tolerated.

In this context, the posts of an actress appearing in the series Teşkilat, which is broadcast on TRT 1, are in no way compatible with TRT's corporate principles. Due to these posts, which also disappointed the viewers of the series Teşkilat, the person in question has been removed from the series. Although stock episodes of the series have already been filmed, the script of the series will be revised. Let no one have any doubt that necessary steps will be taken for similar situations as well."
