A truck carrying live cattle overturned in the Erdemli district of Mersin. The driver was injured in the accident, and some of the animals died. An intensive effort was carried out to rescue the surviving animals.
The accident occurred on the Mersin-Antalya D-400 highway in the Ayaş neighborhood of Erdemli district.
According to the information received, the truck with license plate 56 AE 808, driven by Turgut Ç., overturned after the driver lost control of the steering wheel and struck a retaining wall of a residential complex.
Upon notification by witnesses, health, police, and fire department teams were dispatched to the scene. The driver, who was injured in the accident, was taken to the district state hospital by ambulance.
Some of the approximately 60 head of cattle in the truck's trailer died. Fire crews and citizens mobilized to rescue some of the animals that were trapped and injured.
An investigation into the accident is ongoing.
