Truck crisis on the E5 in Tuzla: Stuck under the bridge, traffic comes to a halt

In Tuzla, on the E5 highway in the direction of Kocaeli near the Tuzla Bridge, a Mercedes-brand truck with license plate 06 COR 333 reportedly became wedged after its trailer hit the concrete of the overpass on the evening of April 21. Due to the truck being unable to continue its journey, traffic disruptions occurred on the frontage road where it was stuck. Work was initiated by crews today to recover the truck, which was traveling from Istanbul to Yozgat when it became trapped under the bridge.

To recover the truck, a portion of the concrete section under the bridge was removed by a crane and placed on the road above the bridge. Due to the operations, the main road on the E5 highway in the direction of Kocaeli near the Tuzla Bridge, a portion of the frontage road, and two lanes of the road above the bridge were closed to traffic. As vehicles unable to proceed on the road entered the frontage road behind the incident, heavy traffic also formed there. It was observed that kilometers-long vehicle queues had formed on the road.

The efforts to recover the truck stuck under the bridge and the kilometers-long vehicle queues formed on the road were captured from the air.
