Truck drivers who barely escaped after their vehicles were stoned face another shock at the border: Attack in Syria, fine at customs
During the uprising in northern Syria, which is under Turkish control, trucks that were attacked were fined at the border gate. Truck drivers rebelled against the fines.
Following signals of mutual negotiations between President and AKP Chairman Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, Syrians in the Azaz, Al-Bab, and Afrin regions of northern Syria rose up in protest.
During the uprising, Turkish flags on the streets were taken down and burned, and streets were set on fire.
Trucks traveling from Turkey to Syria were attacked with stones by protesters. The heavily damaged trucks suffered dents in their bodywork and broken windows. Upon their return to the country, the destroyed trucks were also fined at customs. The truck drivers were stunned by the fines. The angered drivers reacted to the situation.
In a video posted on social media, one driver claimed that the fine was issued because the truck's windows were broken.
