Tunç Soyer and Şenol Aslanoğlu arrested in cooperative case

As part of an investigation coordinated by the İzmir Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, an operation was launched following allegations that members of the S.S. Business People Örnekköy Housing Construction Cooperative were victimized and that irregularities were committed in cooperative transactions.

In the operation conducted by the Provincial Security Directorate's Financial Crimes Investigation Bureau on December 26, former Republican People's Party (CHP) İzmir Provincial Chair Şenol Aslanoğlu, along with cooperative and subcontractor firm officials, were taken into custody. The suspects, whose procedures at the police station were completed, were referred to the courthouse on the morning of December 29. Following their interrogation by the prosecutor's office, a decision was made regarding the suspects who were brought before the duty magistrate judge.

5 ARRESTS, 6 JUDICIAL CONTROL

The court decided to arrest former İzmir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Tunç Soyer, former İZBETON General Manager Heval Savaş Kaya, former CHP İzmir Provincial Chair Şenol Aslanoğlu, and business people Burak Bakır and Yıldırım Kuruoğulları. Other suspects in custody as part of the investigation, M.B., K.M., A.D., Y.E., D.Ç., and E.Ş., were released under judicial control conditions.
Soyer and Kaya, who are under arrest in the cooperative case opened as part of the corruption investigation into İZBETON, gave their statements via the Audio and Video Information System (SEGBİS).
