Turgut Öner, who was arrested alongside Selahattin Yılmaz, has been released
A new development has occurred in the investigation into the alleged 'assassination plot' against 'confessor' Aziz İhsan Aktaş, which led to the arrest of CHP mayors.
It has emerged that Turgut Öner, who was arrested alongside Yılmaz as part of the investigation, was released yesterday.
WAS THE ARREST A 'MISTAKE'?
It was learned that the release decision was made ex officio by the prosecutor's office.
According to a report on Halktv.com.tr, Turgut Öner indicated that he could not make sense of his arrest, stating only, "I think it was understood that my arrest was a mistake, and I was released."
Öner emphasized that he had no connection whatsoever to the accusation that is the subject of the investigation.
Turgut Öner had visited MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli last month alongside Murat Mantuş.
10 PEOPLE HAD BEEN ARRESTED
Following their interrogation at the Istanbul 6th Criminal Judgeship of Peace, Adem Kuru, Cem Çebi, lawyer Cem Duman, İsa Aydın, Mehmet Tuğlu, Mustafa Serdar Yılmaz, Özgür Kılıç, Selahattin Yılmaz, lawyer Semra Ilık, and Turgut Öner had been arrested.
In a statement made the other day, Bahçeli also said, "Selahattin Yılmaz is my comrade-in-arms, he is my fellow idealist."
