Turhan Çömez criticizes figures in Turkey's Eurofighter deal: 235 million pounds extra per aircraft

AKP Chairman and President Erdoğan met with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer in Ankara on October 27. During the meeting between Starmer and Erdoğan, a cooperation agreement for Eurofighter Typhoon fighter jets was signed between the two countries.

Under the agreement, Turkey will purchase 20 Eurofighters from the UK and pay 8 billion pounds in return. With the additional aircraft to be acquired from Qatar and Oman, the total number will reach 44.

The Eurofighter is the third most expensive fighter jet in the world, following the F-22, which costs 143 million dollars without ammunition, and the Rafale, which costs 130 million dollars.

REACTION FROM ÇÖMEZ TO THE FIGURE

İYİ Party's Turhan Çömez addressed the deal between the UK and Turkey on his social media account and made a striking comment regarding the figures that emerged.

Citing a news report to show that Germany also purchased the same aircraft but paid less than Turkey, Çömez made the following criticisms:

"The Germans also placed a Eurofighter order 3 weeks ago. 20 units. 3.75 billion Euros or 3.3 billion pounds.

They will pay 165 million pounds per aircraft. Yet they are selling us the same aircraft for 400 million pounds.

In other words, we will pay 235 million pounds extra per aircraft. Or, in our currency, we will pay 263 billion TL more for 20 aircraft.

Is there any AKP member who can explain this? It is now clear why the British Prime Minister was overjoyed!"
