Turhan Çömez reacts to Erdoğan's shoes: 20 retirees couldn't afford them even if they pooled their money

The suit and shoes worn by AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan during a program he attended had become a topic of discussion.

İYİ Party Balıkesir MP Turhan Çömez used striking expressions in a post he shared on his social media account.

Çömez wrote the following in his post:

"Stefano Ricci, Italian. Crocodile skin. Brown. Exactly 300 thousand TL. If 20 retirees came together, they could only just afford one pair of these shoes with their monthly pensions. They have no money left for chestnut honey, buffalo yogurt, Medina dates, and oatmeal!"

While the post quickly became a trending topic on social media, the economic situation of millions of citizens trying to make ends meet with retirement pensions became a subject of debate once again.

Stefano Ricci, the brand of the luxury shoes worn by Erdoğan, is known for its products made from crocodile skin and is among the most expensive men's clothing brands in the world.
