Statement from TÜRK-İŞ President Atalay on the meeting: The offer is close to positive

Ergün Atalay made statements following his meeting with Vice President Yılmaz.

Atalay stated that the government's offer is close to positive, but still not quite positive.

Making a statement after the four-hour meeting, Atalay said the following regarding the latest offer made to them:

"They presented us with an offer this evening. All of our union presidents are waiting for this offer. I will tell our colleagues. I stand in the same place. I will tell the union presidents, 'go and present this latest offer to your members, your workers. If our friends are satisfied and pleased with this, notify us by Saturday at the latest. We will then notify the Ministry,' we will say."

'WE WILL CONTINUE ON OUR PATH ACCORDING TO WHAT OUR MEMBERS SAY'

When asked by the press about the rate of the latest offer, Atalay replied, "Now, let me explain it to my colleagues first. We exceeded 16.11, but we did not reach 16.57. It is a figure close to that. But let the colleagues see what it is. Because they will make the decision. I will not sign anything anywhere... I will not be involved in a deal that the people do not accept. The unions will decide, the members and workers will decide. If the worker is satisfied, there is no problem; if they are not satisfied, we will say we are not in it and walk away from the deal. We will continue on our path according to what our members say."

'AN OFFER CLOSE TO POSITIVE'

While Atalay did not disclose the government's latest offer to the public, his assessment was, "It is not a one hundred percent positive offer, but it looks like an offer close to positive. The ones who will make the decision are the unions and the workers. They will decide, and I will abide by their decision."

On the other hand, in the Public Collective Bargaining (KÇP) negotiations, TÜHİS had previously offered a 24 percent raise for the first six months, 11 percent for the second six months, 10 percent for the third six months, and 6 percent for the fourth six months. However, this offer was not accepted by TÜRK-İŞ.

THE STRIKE WAS GOING TO START TODAY

Atalay had announced that they had decided to go on strike after the negotiations remained inconclusive.

Atalay had stated that the strikes would begin at Eti Maden on Friday, August 1, and at the Zonguldak mines on Saturday, August 2.

However, according to the decision published in the Official Gazette, the strike was postponed for 60 days.
