Türkan Saylan targeted: Statement from ÇYDD regarding Ahbap and Haluk Levent

The Association for Supporting Contemporary Living (ÇYDD) has reacted to the targeting of the association's founder, Prof. Dr. Türkan Saylan, in certain media outlets following statements made regarding July 15. The association stated that they are following the investigation and arrest decisions concerning Haluk Levent and the executives of the AHBAP Association within the scope of news reflected in the public domain, and expressed that the process must be conducted within the framework of the principles of a state of law.

ÇYDD: "WE HAVE NO COOPERATION WITH AHBAP"

In the statement made by ÇYDD, it was noted that attempts were being made to establish a connection between Haluk Levent and Türkan Saylan through "unrealistic and forced allegations" over the investigation, and the following statements were included:

"The fact that any person says they are inspired by Prof. Dr. Türkan Saylan does not mean that there is a legal or institutional relationship between that person and our association, and such an inference can never be accepted. Haluk Levent does not have any work as a member, volunteer, or official within our association. Likewise, there has been no institutional cooperation, joint project, joint event, or work established between our association and the AHBAP Association to date."

EMPHASIS ON AUDIT AND TRANSPARENCY

The statement recalled that, in accordance with its charter, ÇYDD is regularly audited by its Supervisory Board, governorates, the State Audit Board when necessary, and international independent audit institutions. While it was stated that the association's financial and administrative activities are carried out transparently, information was also shared that it was deemed worthy of the "International Transparency Award" by Transparency International in 2019.

LEGAL PROCESS FOR REPORTS CONTRARY TO THE TRUTH

ÇYDD announced that it will resort to legal means against publications that it states contain allegations contrary to the truth, which target the association and Prof. Dr. Türkan Saylan. The statement concluded with the following expressions:

"Just as we fought within the law against the FETÖ structure behind these operations during the conspiracy process launched against our association in 2009, we respectfully announce to the public that we will continue our legal struggle with the same determination today against unrealistic allegations and systematic attempts at discrediting."
