Turkey signs energy, oil, and natural gas agreement with Senegal

According to a written statement from the Ministry, Turkey has intensified its energy diplomacy with African countries over the past year.

In this direction, Senegal has become the latest link in Turkey's energy-focused expansion in Africa, following strategic agreements reached with Niger, Egypt, Somalia, Morocco, and Algeria on energy and mining topics.

During the official visit of Senegalese President Bassirou Diomaye Diakhar Faye to Ankara at the invitation of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, numerous agreements were signed between the two countries.

In this context, Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Alparslan Bayraktar and Senegalese Minister of Foreign Affairs Yassine Fall signed the "Memorandum of Understanding Between the Government of the Republic of Türkiye and the Government of the Republic of Senegal in the Fields of Energy and Hydrocarbons."

Bayraktar, in his post regarding the agreement on the social media platform X, stated the following:

"With the 'Memorandum of Understanding in the Fields of Energy and Hydrocarbons' that we signed with Senegalese Foreign Minister Ms. Yassine Fall, our countries will cooperate on oil and natural gas exploration, production, and trade. Within this scope, Turkey will contribute to seismic exploration activities in Senegal's onshore and offshore fields. Furthermore, cooperation will also be established in the fields of renewable energy, energy efficiency, critical minerals, and rare earth elements."
