Turkey takes action in Sumud Flotilla crisis

Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan announced that citizens detained following the intervention against the Global Sumud Flotilla will be brought to Turkey. Fidan stated that plans are in place to evacuate both Turkish citizens and participants from third countries via special flights to be organized today.

Turkey takes action in Sumud Flotilla crisis

The first official statement from Turkey has been issued following the intervention against the Global Sumud Flotilla. Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan reported that efforts are underway to ensure the safe return of the detained citizens to Turkey.

EMPHASIS ON "UNLAWFUL INTERVENTION"

In his statement, Minister Fidan included the following remarks: 

We are working with all relevant institutions to ensure the safety and safe return to our country of our citizens who were detained as a result of the unlawful intervention against the Global Sumud Flotilla. We plan to bring our citizens and participants from third countries to Turkey with special flights we will organize today. We will continue to protect the rights of our citizens and fulfill our humanitarian responsibility toward civilians in Gaza; we will continue our support for the Palestinian people with determination.
