Turkish Airlines plane stranded in Iran returns home

Following the closure of Iranian airspace due to US and Israeli airstrikes on Iran on February 28, a Turkish Airlines (THY) plane that had been stranded at Tehran's Imam Khomeini Airport has returned to Istanbul Airport after 55 days.

Due to the airstrikes by the US and Israel that began on February 28, Iran closed its airspace, leaving some aircraft stranded. The Boeing 737-8F2 passenger plane belonging to THY, with the registration TC-JZG, which had been stranded in Tehran, took off at 14:14 local Iranian time.

The THY plane, operating under flight number TK6895, landed at Istanbul Airport at 17:21 Turkish time after a flight duration of 3 hours and 37 minutes.

It was learned that all technical maintenance for the aircraft, which had not performed any flights for 55 days, was completed prior to its flight to Istanbul.
