Turkish Pharmacists Association President Arman Üney emphasized that counterfeit and illegal drugs pose a major risk to public health. Üney stated, "All drugs sold on the internet or through channels other than pharmacies are counterfeit. To prevent health problems that could even lead to death, one must stay away from medications and other health products sold online."
Üney noted that approximately 73 thousand boxes of counterfeit and illegal drugs were seized in an operation conducted by the Istanbul Police yesterday.
He explained that these drugs were intended for the treatment of cancer, diabetes, and kidney patients, and had a market value of approximately 150 million lira. He stated, "If these merchants of hope had not been caught, they would have endangered the health of many of our patients and even created health risks that could lead to death."
Arman Üney stated that all processes, from the production of the drug to its storage conditions, distribution, and proper use, must be under the supervision of a pharmacist. Warning citizens, Üney said, "The only correct and legal address for all products related to medicine and health is the pharmacy."
Turkish Pharmacists Association's Üney said, "We are warning not only our patients but all our citizens very clearly; all drugs sold on the internet or through channels other than pharmacies are counterfeit. These products pose a serious threat to public health."
