Turkish Red Crescent Ankara Branch President Sılay injured and stranded on Mount Hasan

A rescue operation has been launched for Turkish Red Crescent Ankara Branch President Mehmet Sılay, who fell and sustained injuries while attempting a summit climb on Mount Hasan in Aksaray.

Turkish Red Crescent Ankara Branch President Sılay injured and stranded on Mount Hasan

Mehmet Sılay (76), a former member of parliament for the Virtue Party (FP) and current president of the Turkish Red Crescent Ankara Branch, set out with 3 others around 17:00 to attempt a summit climb on Mount Hasan.

During the climb, Sılay lost his balance, fell, and sustained a head injury.

Following a report to the 112 Emergency Call Center, a search and rescue team consisting of AFAD, the gendarmerie, and UMKE was dispatched to the region.

Unable to reach Sılay by land, the teams requested a helicopter from the Air Force Command.

Rescue efforts for Sılay, whose coordinates have been determined, are ongoing.

Aksaray Governor Mehmet Ali Kumbuzoğlu stated that they have reached Sılay via mobile phone and that rescue operations are continuing.
