TÜSİAD shares post after reports that 'prosecutor denied permission for Brussels visit': 'More prosperous and resilient'

The first statement from TÜSİAD has come following allegations that Minister of Treasury and Finance Mehmet Şimşek invited TÜSİAD Presidents Orhan Turan and Ömer Aras to the meeting in Brussels, but that the prosecutor's office rejected their applications.

TÜSİAD made statements regarding the meeting on its social media account following the allegations.

In its statement, in which TÜSİAD noted that A. Dilek Aydın, the TÜSİAD-TİSK EU and BusinessEurope Representative, attended the Turkey-EU High-Level Business Dialogue on behalf of TÜSİAD, the following expressions were included:

"TÜSİAD attended the Turkey-EU High-Level Business Dialogue held after the Turkey-EU High-Level Economic Dialogue, which was restarted in Brussels. 

The meeting took place with the participation of Minister of Treasury and Finance Mehmet Şimşek, EU Commissioner for Economy Valdis Dombrovskis, and EU Commissioner for Enlargement Marta Kos. 

At the event hosted by the European Commission, TÜSİAD was represented by A. Dilek Aydın, the TÜSİAD-TİSK EU and BusinessEurope Representative.

The main messages delivered at the meeting were: The most priority step for Europe's competitiveness and resilience is the initiation of the EU-Turkey Customs Union update process, which includes green and digital policies. 

In terms of membership perspective, it is necessary to return to the foundations of the Turkey-EU integration partnership. A common vision and a consistent strategy must be developed in every field, including security, competitiveness, or resilience. Processes need to be carried out with clear calendars, measurable targets, and mutual responsibility. To build trust in EU-Turkey relations, there is a need for a predictable EU-Turkey relationship based on common democratic values and supported by deeper economic integration. The EU and Turkey can only be more secure, more prosperous, and more resilient together."
