The television broadcast in the prison was cut off as the attack on TİP MP Ahmet Şık began during the General Assembly session regarding Can Atalay, whose parliamentary membership was revoked.

According to information received from Can Atalay's lawyers, Atalay, who is being held at the Marmara Closed Prison in Silivri, was watching the TBMM General Assembly session where the revocation of his parliamentary status was to be evaluated on TBMM TV. However, immediately after the attack carried out by AKP Administrative Officer Alpay Özalan while his party's MP Ahmet Şık was at the podium, the prison administration cut the television broadcast completely.

The information note released by the lawyers stated that the last time the television broadcast in the prison was cut was during the coup attempt on July 15, 2016.
