Two consecutive armed attacks: Is the Bahçelievler attack a settling of scores between the Daltonlar and Redkitler?

In recent days, armed attacks involving motorcycles or cars have begun to increase in various parts of the country. News of armed attacks has started to find a place in news bulletins almost every day. The latest of these occurred in recent days.

In Istanbul's Bahçelievler district, at around 02:50 on August 31, shots were fired from a car by unidentified individuals who arrived in front of the emergency room of Bahçelievler State Hospital.

According to the report by Ali Rıza Akbulut from Hürriyet newspaper, a police officer, a gendarmerie personnel, a security guard, and two people who were relatives of patients receiving treatment at the hospital were injured in the attack. While the suspects quickly fled the scene, the 5 injured people were immediately taken for treatment. It was learned that the injured are not in life-threatening condition. As a result of the gunfire, the hospital's windows were damaged. The car was found abandoned in Yenibosna.

A few hours before the hospital attack, an armed attack was carried out on 3 people walking on Mahmutbey Street in Kocasinan Merkez Neighborhood. Two of the 3 people were injured in the attack. It was learned that the 3rd person fled the scene during the attack. While one of the injured taken to Bahçelievler State Hospital lost their life, it was learned that the other's treatment is ongoing. The police determined that the two incidents were connected. 10 people were detained in relation to the two attacks.

Allegedly, street gangs are behind the attack. It was claimed that the 3 people were members of the 'Daltonlar' gang and were attacked by rival gangs. It was alleged that the hospital attack was a continuation of the incident. Because the attack took place in Bahçelievler and the car was found in Yenibosna, it was assessed that those who carried out the attack were the 'Redkitler' gang, which operates in these two districts.
