Two-stage bribery operation in Istanbul
In bribery operations conducted in Istanbul targeting traffic police officers and related civilians who allegedly allowed heavy-tonnage excavation trucks to pass despite missing documentation, 46 police officers have been taken into custody. It was learned that the police officers were suspended upon the instructions of Istanbul Provincial Police Chief Zafer Aktaş. In the first phase of the investigation, 59 individuals determined to have bribed the police officers were released under judicial control. The processing of the traffic police officers detained in the second phase of the operation is ongoing.

The Public Security Branch Office's Robbery Bureau teams launched an investigation following bribery reports alleging that high-tonnage excavation trucks belonging to 3 separate excavation companies were being overlooked during inspections despite having missing documentation. Within the scope of these efforts, evidence was found that 46 police officers and 62 civilians were involved in bribery incidents across a total of 67 actions.
THOSE WHO PAID THE FIRST BRIBES WERE TAKEN
Following the findings made by the Robbery Bureau teams, the button was pressed for the first operation on November 7. In the first phase of the bribery operation, which was planned in two stages, 59 civilians were taken into custody. All of the detained individuals were released by the court with judicial control conditions.

THE METHOD HAS BEEN REVEALED
According to the allegations, company officials who have missing documentation and want to transport high tonnage provide the license plates of the vehicles to the owner of a trustee parking lot located in Maltepe.
Again according to the allegations; it was reported that in return, the parking lot owner gives both the money and the license plates to the traffic police.
