Two tanker ships explode in the Black Sea
An explosion occurred on a tanker in the Black Sea carrying 25 crew members. The crew was rescued before the fire on the tanker could spread. The General Directorate of Maritime Affairs announced that the 20 crew members on a second tanker named VIRAT, which reported being struck off the coast of the Black Sea, are in good condition and that rescue units and a commercial vessel have been dispatched to the scene.
An explosion occurred in the engine room of a tanker named Karios, which was sailing approximately 28 miles off the coast of Kandıra, opposite Şile, in the Black Sea. While initial assessments suggest the explosion may have been caused by the ship hitting a mine, it was reported that the ship is at risk of sinking.
Search and rescue and support teams were dispatched to the region, and it was announced that the 25 crew members on board are in good health and that evacuation efforts have been completed.
25 CREW MEMBERS EVACUATED
In a statement, the Kocaeli Governor's Office said, "Following a fire that broke out on a foreign-flagged ship off the coast of Kefken, Kandıra, the 25 crew members on board have been evacuated, and the crew members are in good health."

A report was received that a fire broke out due to an external impact on the empty KAIROS tanker, which was sailing to the Novorossiysk port in Russia, 28 miles off our coast, and the process regarding the ship is being monitored.

SECOND TANKER FIRE IN THE BLACK SEA
The General Directorate of Maritime Affairs announced that the 20 crew members on the tanker named VIRAT, which reported being struck off the coast of the Black Sea, are in good condition and that rescue units and a commercial vessel have been dispatched to the scene.

In the statement made on the social media account of the General Directorate of Maritime Affairs, it was stated, "The tanker named VIRAT reported being struck approximately 35 nautical miles off the coast in the Black Sea, and rescue units and a commercial vessel have been dispatched to the scene.
