TZOB issues warning on 'tiny houses' and bungalows: Agricultural lands are being affected

The Union of Turkish Chambers of Agriculture (TZOB) President Şemsi Bayraktar announced that new living spaces such as "tiny houses" and bungalows are causing the fragmentation of agricultural lands and increasing unplanned urbanization.

Bayraktar stated that the sale of agricultural land to foreigners should be prohibited, adding: "He expressed that the sale of agricultural lands at prices above their value puts farmers in a difficult position. Furthermore, he stated that in order to prevent the misuse of agricultural lands, a requirement for agricultural activity should be imposed when these lands change hands."

"WE MUST PROTECT THEM"

Stating that producers who cannot earn sufficient income from agriculture due to rising costs are forced to sell their lands, Bayraktar noted that this situation has led to agricultural lands being turned into investment vehicles. Expressing that "tiny house" and similar concepts make living away from the city attractive to people, causing the fragmentation of agricultural lands, Bayraktar emphasized that the foundation of agriculture is the soil and stated that existing soil and water resources must be protected.

Bayraktar emphasized that measures must be taken across the country to prevent the misuse of agricultural lands and to protect the social order of villages, stating that as a country, we must effectively and sustainably protect our soil and water resources.
