Ufuk Uras reveals: The second detail from his meeting with MHP Chairman Bahçeli
Former MP and former Chairman of the Freedom and Solidarity Party (ÖDP) Uras continues to share details of his meeting with MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli.
In his first statement regarding the meeting, Ufuk Uras mentioned that Bahçeli said, “We have 50 deputies, the majority is with the AK Party, they are the ones who need to take action.”
Devlet Bahçeli's call for PKK terrorist organization leader Öcalan to speak in Parliament continues to be one of the most debated topics on the agenda.
Regarding the meeting, Uras had initially said, “What I see is that there is serious preparation. This could be a partial amnesty or something regarding the mother tongue in the constitution; ultimately, it is a subject that is being thought about and prepared for.”
Ufuk Uras made new, noteworthy statements to T24 columnist Tolga Şardan regarding his meeting with Bahçeli.
Ufuk Uras responded to Tolga Şardan's question, “There are public debates about whether the President was aware of the Öcalan move Bahçeli made in the MHP group. Do you have any assessment on this?” with the following remarks:
"THE MAJORITY IS WITH THE AK PARTY"
“I think these are entirely wishes. I saw complete determination in Mr. Bahçeli. Instead of passing the buck to the AK Party, he said, ‘We are 50 deputies, it is now their stance.’
Actually, I did not see any conflict, so we did not discuss this issue. Because I already thought that this was a ‘given.’
If there is a state mind here, which there appears to be; as you saw today at the journalists' panel, ‘it is better for there to be a state mind than for the state to be mindless.’ At least your interlocutor is clear, and it is good that this interlocutor is clear. Some of our friends do not like the interlocutor; are we going to bring interlocutors from Norway or Italy for those friends? This is the fabric we have. If you are going to discuss this issue with this government, why shouldn't we discuss it with him?”
