Uğur Dündar responds to 'Serdar Sertçelik' allegations!

Sözcü columnist and journalist Uğur Dündar has denied allegations that he met with secret witness Serdar Sertçelik—who has made various accusations against the Ankara Police in the investigation into Ayhan Bora Kaplan, an individual arrested on charges of being an organized crime leader—in an interrogation room at the Ankara Police Department on April 15.

Uğur Dündar responds to 'Serdar Sertçelik' allegations!

Developments in the Ayhan Bora Kaplan case continue to remain on Turkey's agenda.

In a report by the Sabah newspaper, known for its proximity to the government, the claim was made that “During the hearing, defendant Muhammet Kaplan, one of the organization members, stated, ‘The Chief Commissioner had the fugitive Serdar Sertçelik meet with Uğur Dündar in the interrogation room. I don't know if it was by phone or in person, but I heard this and I swear it is true.’”

In his column today, journalist Uğur Dündar stated, “I do not know anyone (including the tea server) working at the Organized Crime Bureau of the Ankara Police Department, which is conducting the Ayhan Bora Kaplan Criminal Organization investigation. I have not spoken to any of them by phone, nor have I met them in person. Likewise, I have not met Ayhan Bora Kaplan or any person from his criminal organization, nor have I spoken to them by phone.”

Stating that these allegations could be easily verified with a simple HTS (Historical Traffic Search) record, Dündar said, “Neither that evening nor on any other day did any official call me. I did not call anyone either. Such a meeting never took place. This is entirely a product of imagination—I cannot even call it an allegation—it is a lie. Furthermore, I have not spoken with anyone from the Ayhan Bora Kaplan criminal organization.”

Dündar wrote, “During the process, I spoke with two people who were victimized by this organization and whose names appear as complainants-victims in the indictment, and I published exactly what they said. Since I have been against the use of secret witnesses since the FETÖ plots, I did not use a single line from the secret witness statements in the Ayhan Bora Kaplan indictment. In my research, I did not hear the names of politicians such as Bekir Bozdağ, Hasan Doğan, and Abdülhamit Gül mentioned. I also announced this finding last week on the program 'Sözün Gücü' (The Power of the Word) that I attended on SÖZCÜ TV. That is the situation, my dear readers. Let's see what plot is next?..”
