'Makarios' banner by Ülkü Ocakları in Üsküdar: They targeted İmamoğlu!

With 4 days left until the local elections, a banner targeting Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor and CHP's candidate for the new term, Ekrem İmamoğlu, has been prepared.

The banner, which bears the signature of the Ülkü Ocakları Üsküdar District Branch, uses the phrase, "İmamoğlu, who erected a statue of the murderer Makarios."

The banner also features an image of a book published by the Ülkü Ocakları titled "A Journey to 16 Turkish States" along with the words, "Those who read this book will not follow in the footsteps of Makarios."

Here is the banner hung by the Ülkü Ocakları:

DID İMAMOĞLU HAVE A MAKARIOS STATUE BUILT?

During his tenure as the Mayor of Beylikdüzü, Ekrem İmamoğlu had a "Cyprus Monument" built in Yaşam Vadisi Park.

While Makarios is included in the sculpture, the statue of Rauf Denktaş is placed at the very front.

The relief of Makarios is visible in the section of the monument depicting the London Agreement.

The Cyprus Monument was built with the approval of Rauf Denktaş’s family, while the monument, which was targeted by media outlets close to the AKP with the claim that "The CHP municipality erected a statue of the anti-Turkish Makarios," was also attacked by nationalist groups in 2017.
