Ümit Özdağ calls for commission meetings to be 'broadcast live': Let us see their demands on behalf of Öcalan and the PKK

Zafer Party Chairman Ümit Özdağ, who came to Burdur for a series of visits, visited Burdur Mayor Ali Orkun Ercengiz in his office, accompanied by Zafer Party Provincial Chairman Sinan Candeğer and Zafer Party Tefenni Mayor Ümit Alagöz.

Ümit Özdağ, who chatted with Burdur Mayor Ali Orkun Ercengiz in his office for a while, made statements to journalists upon leaving the municipality. Ümit Özdağ later visited tradespeople on Gazi Street.

Özdağ said the following in his statement:

"The severe economic crisis is rapidly pushing low-income earners, retirees, workers, and peasants to a point where they are struggling with hunger, and because of this, workers have put pressure on their unions, and the unions have finally started strike processes. However, we see that the strike initiated has been postponed for 60 days by President Erdoğan on the grounds of public safety and national security. Of course, it is necessary to explain which part of this is related to national security. You cannot just say national security and move on. The issue that truly threatens national security is wrong economic policies. The issue that truly threatens our national security is the application of enemy criminal law and the suppression of the opposition. The issue that threatens our national security is that our borders have become a thoroughfare and nearly 13 million refugees and illegal migrants have filled our country. Otherwise, the strike of workers trying to feed themselves is not a threat to national security.

"IT HAS NO PLACE IN THE NATIONAL CONSCIENCE"

On the other hand, an Öcalan Commission is being established in the Grand National Assembly of Turkey. We, as the Zafer Party, have called this the 'Öcalan Commission' and will continue to do so. Because the purpose of this commission is to legitimize Öcalan and make Öcalan's demands answerable through the Grand National Assembly of Turkey. With the start of this commission's work, Öcalan will cease to be a prisoner in İmralı and will become a political actor. The government stakeholders act as if they are stubbornly unaware of the deep wound this will open in the conscience of the Turkish nation and the socio-political reaction it will create. However, the patriotic AK Party voter, the nationalist MHP voter, and likewise the Atatürkist CHP voter are extraordinarily uncomfortable with this commission and are expressing this discomfort on every platform. This commission has no place in the national conscience. On the contrary, the national conscience is condemning this commission. 

"LET IT BE BROADCAST LIVE"

It is claimed that the PKK has laid down its arms. The PKK has not laid down its arms. The PKK has given some of its weapons to the PYD and some to PJAK. It has shifted its personnel. A terrorist organization does not abandon its weapons by burning 30 Kalashnikovs at a barbecue party. A terrorist organization must surrender its weapons to state security forces according to the list in the hands of state security forces. There is no such thing. Cemil Bayık says, 'Now it is the state's turn. We burned 30. We will not lay down any more weapons. Now let the state take a step.' We ask, where was there no bargaining, where were there no negotiations, and we make a proposal. All meetings of this commission should be broadcast live on television. Let us see what demands the DEM members will make on behalf of the PKK and Öcalan in front of the Turkish people, and which demands of the PKK and Öcalan those sitting at that table as interlocutors will accept, and let the Turkish nation watch this. The AK Party Group Chairman said 'let it be held behind closed doors to the press.' That is out of the question. What are you trying to hide from the Turkish nation? You are even proposing that it be held behind closed doors to the press. Let alone being closed to the press, it should be open and broadcast live on television."
