Ümit Özdağ's 'he accepted getting beaten' remark to Sırrı Sakık: He criticized the speech in Parliament
Reactions continue against the insults directed at the Republic's founder, Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, by DEM Party member Sırrı Sakık on the parliamentary floor. Zafer Party Chairman Ümit Özdağ did not remain indifferent to Sakık's remarks.
Sakık's response to IYI Party Chairman Müsavat Dervişoğlu's words, "You are base, you are shameless," has sparked reactions.
Sırrı Sakık stated, "In recent days, the words 'traitor' and 'base' have been flying around in Parliament regarding the latest process. Do you know what true baseness is? True baseness is those who, after founding the country together, turn around and ignore the Kurds. Those who ban a people's language are base; those who usurp a people's rights are base."
"I WOULD HAVE BEATEN THE ONE WHO INSULTED"
Zafer Party leader Ümit Özdağ reacted to Sırrı Sakık's statements on his social media account, saying: "God knows, if I had been in that general assembly hall, I would have beaten the person who insulted Atatürk, our War of Independence, and the Republic of Turkey. I will not say more so as not to violate the Turkish Penal Code."
Regarding the post Özdağ made on his X account, Sakık replied, "I am Shafi'i, my ablution would be broken."
ÜMİT ÖZDAĞ RESPONDED TO SAKIK'S ANSWER WITH STRIKING REMARKS
Özdağ commented on the answer Sırrı Sakık gave him during a program he attended on Sözcü TV and responded as follows:
"- He spoke correctly; among Shafi'is, ablution is broken when blood comes from the mouth or nose. It is a realistic behavior that he accepted getting beaten. Look, I am calling on the Public Prosecutors from here. One cannot insult in the Parliamentary General Assembly."
- There is an insult here to Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk. There is an insult to all the cadres who founded the Republic. There is an insult here to the Republic of Turkey. This is indecency. It is not about parliamentary immunity or anything like that.
- If this lawsuit is not filed today, it will certainly be filed one day. This man will be held accountable for this. I say 'man' because there is no other word."
