UN: 1 million Palestinians displaced in Rafah in the last 3 weeks

UNRWA provided information regarding the situation in Rafah in a written statement shared on its X account.

The statement noted that in the last 3 weeks, 1 million Palestinians seeking to escape the attacks of the Israeli army have migrated from Rafah to different parts of Gaza.

It was stated that these people, who have no safe place to go, are fleeing the ongoing attacks.

Drawing attention to the food and water shortages, the statement emphasized that providing aid and protection to Palestinians in Gaza is becoming nearly impossible with each passing day.

In a statement on May 20, UNRWA reported that more than 810 thousand Palestinians had been forced to leave Rafah, where the Israeli army continues its attacks, in 2 weeks.

The Israeli army announced on May 7 that it had launched a ground offensive into the Rafah region of Gaza and had seized the Gaza side of the border crossing with Egypt.

Despite the precautionary measures ordered by the International Court of Justice, Israel bombed the tents of displaced Palestinians in Rafah on May 26, and it was reported that at least 45 Palestinians, 23 of whom were women, children, and the elderly, lost their lives in the attack, and 249 Palestinians were injured.
