The sheikh's activities came to light about two years ago following a raid on his home in Bağlar. It was alleged that he served 300 people a day through an appointment system and charged 500 TL for each session. In his defense, A.A. acknowledged the existence of luxury Audi and Tiguan brand SUVs, but defended himself by saying, “One is mine, one is my son's. I do not take money; I write prayers voluntarily.”

“FRAUD” CASE HAD BEEN CLOSED

A lawsuit was filed against Sheikh A.A. for “violating the Law on Dervish Convents and Tombs.” However, the most critical charge, “fraud by exploiting religious feelings,” was closed with a decision of non-prosecution.

MASAK REPORT SPOILED THE GAME

The case, which was on the verge of being closed, was reopened with a report prepared by MASAK. Investigations revealed that A.A. had reached a fortune of exactly 175 million TL. These findings overturned the non-prosecution decision, and the investigation was reignited.

UP TO 17 YEARS IN PRISON AND ASSETS SEIZED

The prosecutor's office added the MASAK report to the file and requested a prison sentence of up to 17 years for A.A. The court seized all identified assets belonging to the sheikh and his family.
