Unbelievable sight: Sponge found inside car airbag

The methods used by scammers in the automotive sector, as in many other industries, are truly unbelievable. During an inspection of a vehicle brought to an auto expert in Konya, auto appraisal specialist Şenol Uysal became suspicious of the airbag and discovered a sponge placed inside it.

"THEY INSERTED A SPONGE"

Auto appraisal specialist Şenol Uysal, who found a sponge inside the most vital part of the vehicle, said, "A vehicle arrived that was claimed to have intact airbags. This information was even provided by a large company. The sign on the door is not as important as the craftsmanship. When we checked the car's airbag, no error code appeared in the vehicle's computer system. They had installed resistors on the car's airbags and placed a huge sponge in the empty space where the airbag should have been. They had also wrapped it around the outer plastic of the airbag. I told the seller the airbag was deployed, and he said that was impossible. I showed it to him directly. I told him there was a sponge inside instead of an airbag, and he was convinced."

"AIRBAG TESTING SHOULD BE DONE ON EVERY VEHICLE"

Emphasizing the importance of the airbag component, Uysal stated, "In such cases, one would be in a difficult situation during an accident. A properly functioning airbag saves lives. A small airbag can save your life. People's lives are not that cheap. Airbag testing must absolutely be performed on every vehicle. We strongly recommend that the malfunctions of these parts be checked. The plastic part on the exterior is replaced, which leads to victimization. I am warning our citizens."
